Supt. In 1955 he was appointed Detective-Sergeant and posted to Headquarters (Hindlip), since when he has served in the Redditch and Malvern divisions. He was promoted Temporary Chief Inspector in 1966, taking charge of the Bromsgrove Sub-division. In January 1967, he was substantiated in the rank of Chief Inspector and returned to Headquarters to help prepare for the impending amalgamation of the Worcestershire, Worcester City, Herefordshire and Shropshire forces. Upon amalgamation he was appointed Deputy of Research and Planning at Force Headquarters. His promotion dates from May. Married, Supt. Parkes is living in Fernhill Heath."
